Over the weekend someone told me five more floors. So that works out.

I'm really gonna miss the sparkle of the construction lights all up the tower in the distance every night.

The consistent pattern of the construction lights make it look like a space ship coming in for a landing. Once it is occupied you won’t get that illusion.

I too am dreading the day that the construction lights disappear, replaced with whatever LED-based foofaraw they've got planned.

Stantec will have its led strips going up the side of the building though!

I could see the Marriott peeking through the woods south of the 41 Avenue SW interchange going north on Highway 2.

You can also see it driving south on St. Albert Trail on the left side just past Giroux Road in St. Albert, juts peaking above the hill.

There is a level 57 shown, but that's just the roof. Looks like the glazing extends a meter or two past that, which is what I referenced in my previous post. Likely to conceal mechanical equipment. This is all based off out of date drawings, however, so it's possible things have changed, but doubtful.
Let me make this clear. So you're saying the residential floors will go up to floor 54, while mechanical will take up the top two floors? If so, there are only two occupied floors left as of now.

Haven't looked at the drawings in a long time, and may well have deleted them from our server, so I can't really confirm anything for you outside of what you've already quoted.

I bet level 54's ceiling height will be quite substantial too compare to the lower floors.

I don't recall which, but either the top floor of Stantec or JW is 20+ feet high, with mezzanines etc. Pretty sure the penthouse and sub-penthouse levels (top 4 levels possibly in one or the other?) in both buildings do step up pretty significantly in both buildings, but again, it's been awhile since I looked at the drawings so please don't hold me to anything!

Canoe will likely be going in (unless a different name is chosen under the Oliver & Bonacini Brand) and a very high end bar in the lobby (think Pacific Rim in Van).

I wish I had my DSLR, those clouds looked phenomenal yesterday with bright blue skies to the west illuminating the towers in a saturated dark blue/silver color we would recognize in renderings.

There was no need to change that plaque. We are the City of Champions.

Definitely for right now, but, once it is finished, Stantec' s bullion fins will most likely set them apart as the led lights should luminate enough for the eyes to differentiate the two objects.

An ACTUAL tall building topping out in our city. Hopefully the first of many since the closure of ECCA. Stantec next, then Quarters Hotel and Residences? Baccarat site, BMO site? Emerald will really stand out too. Add Encore, Tower B, Westrich on 106 project. Even corner one. Church tower. McLaren. CNIB and Massey Harris triple towers. Wow. It's a great time for tower watchers in Edmonton. Maybe there's even a surprise tower or two in some developers thoughts.

Anybody know how many floors are left to be poured on this one? By my count they are either working on or have just finished the last residential floor (54?), and then that would leave two(?) mechanical penthouse floors?

Any guesses what the current height is at? (I'd guess around 185m-ish?)

I believe this is supposed to be topping out the first week of Feb.

They are on the last floor. If you look very carefully you can see the rebar is bent 90^ at the top to tie in the roof.

The perimeter of the mechanical floors as shown in the renders are tapered. Since the columns around the perimeter are still straight, this should be the top residential with crazy high ceiling.

The perimeter of the mechanical floors as shown in the renders are tapered. Since the columns around the perimeter are still straight, this should be the top residential with crazy high ceiling.
So does that mean there are two more stories left to build for the mechanical floors?

So I know this isn't a high priority yet, but I wonder when they will begin construction on the Pedway from Edmonton Tower to Marriott tower. I can imagine when that pedway is open that there will be more people walking through the Pedways to Rogers Place and also the Timmies in Edmonton tower will see business increase significantly.

    EDIT
forgot to mention , the tie in of the winter pedway to the podium of jw looks horrible. I couldnt get a picture. Anyone have any elevations of north face , cause im hoping they do take care of that.

When I was looking at it yesterday it seemed fine with me, other than the fact they still have more work to do.

If the renders and models are correct, yes. I expect that the top mechanical floors and their shroud to be constructed of steelwork instead of concrete pillars and slabs.

Way back on page eight of this very thread:
    http://www.connect2edmonton.ca/showthread.php?36255-JW-Marriott-Hotel-amp-Residences-192-2-m-630-56-floors-under-construction&p=738085&viewfull=1#post738085

The sloped part of the shroud is the north face.

It's so cool to see where the building and the district has progressed in the past few years. I remember looking through the construction hoarding into the big construction pit as they were just beginning to pour the parkade which is now the Marriott tower.

She's an elegant piece of architecture. This is one of those rare moments where the renderings are outdone by the real thing.

i don’t have any photos but share your concern that those transitions will be as inelegant and awkward as the transitions to the community rink and the casino where there seemed to be little or no respect (or money) given to reflect or respect the arena’s architecture.

She sure is. I'm trying to reserve my judgment on Stantec until it's finished but, aside from the amazing height, the building looks like a "dud" in comparison to JW. Wish they stuck to the original render on that one which was a fantastic design.

Looks like the final roof height, judging from the last picture, will be at approximately the top of the 2nd segment of the crane.

Using JW as a reference in height for statec, i tell myself "holy sh**" everytime. Manulife looks like just another building now.

It's great isn't it. Just picture the highest point of the Alberta Legislature (57m) on top of JW and there you have the approx. height of Stantec.

My "holy sh**" moment is picturing Icon II on top of Stantec tower's transfer slab, which already stands at the height of the neighbouring Bell Tower.
